Ronald L. Ecker was born in Jacksonville, Florida, in 1942. He received his B.A. in English at the University of Florida, and served two years as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Peru. He earned a Master of Library Science degree at Florida State University, and worked as a librarian at Pasco-Hernando Community College, Barry University, and with the state of Florida before retirement to become a full-time writer (books, articles, songs, and screenplays). His reference book Dictionary of Science and Creationism was selected by the review journal Choice as one of the Outstanding Academic Books of 1990. His complete modern-English translation (with Chaucer scholar Eugene J. Crook) of The Canterbury Tales has been a widely adopted text in college and university literature courses. It is also now used by students worldwide in an online edition. His biblical reference book And Adam Knew Eve is also online.
